: Essential-Oils The blood-brain barrier keeps most substances from reaching the neurons of the brain, including the retina (which is embryologically brain tissue) and the cerebrospinal fluid which bathes and nourishes the crucial cells of the central nervous system. This layer of cells lining the specialized blood vessels of the CNS form a semi-permeable membrane or filter through which only small fat soluble molecules pass. For example, most chemotherapy doesn't work on brain cancer for this reason. Lipid soluble molecules smaller
than about 1000 atomic mass units (amu) molecular weight, such as
the active ingredients in essential oils, get through. Essential oils
are typically less than 500 amu and made of aromatic hydrocarbon rings.
Aromatic molecules are so small they The low molecular weight of essential oils means that there are a large number of active molecules in a very small volume, contributing to their extreme therapeutic potency. One drop contains approximately 4 x 10^19 or 40,000,000,000,000,000,000 molecules. Since we have only 100 trillion cells in a human body, one drop of essential oil can treat each cell with 40,000 molecules. Since biocommunication works by resonance as well as the old school "lock and key" model, one molecule can trigger multiple receptor sites simultaneously and communicate with DNA, affecting cellular functions. The essential oil of a plant may
contain as many as hundreds of components, all made of carbon, hydrogen
and sometimes oxygen. Phenylpropanoids or hemiterpenes are carbon-rings with one isoprene unit. Dozens of different phenylpropanoids are found in oils like Clove (90%), Cassia (80%), Basil (75%), Cinnamon (73%), Oregano (60%), Anise (50%) and Peppermint (25%). They tend to promote a terrain unfriendly to pathogenic viruses and bacteria. They also cleanse receptor sites on the cell membrane, enhancing cellular communication. Sesquiterpenes have three isoprene units with a molecular weight of 204 amu. There are over 10,000 different sesquiterpenes. Sesquiterpenes are main components of Cedarwood (98%), Vetiver (97%), Spikenard (93%), Sandalwood (Aloes) 90%, Black Pepper (74%), Patchouli (71%), Myrrh (62%), and Ginger (59%) and are also in Galbanum, Onycha, and Frankincense (8%). Sesquiterpenes provide oxygen to cells. Sesquiterpenes can also correct errors in the DNA code, such as in cancer. The oxygen from sesquiterpenes also helps correct cancer terrain (Phase 1). Monoterpenes
have two isoprene units and a molecular weight of 136 amu. Some of
the 2,000 different monoterpenes are found in These compounds are synergistic in the healing process:
Together, these three effects of essential oils can sometimes promote healing that is nearly instant and also permanent, since they restore a natural state of balance. Most essential oils have one or two of the three classes of compounds as their dominant chemistry, but each of the Biblical oils contains a trinity of all three. |
