:Iodine-Skin-Patch-Test:

1. Purchase an inexpensive 2% solution of Iodine (Lugol’s Solution) at any drug store.
2. Paint a 1 to 2 inch square patch of skin with the solution, staining the skin brown. You can use the thyroid area or more conveniently, the abdomen, an upper arm or thigh, being careful not to contact any clothing until completely dry to avoid staining.
3. Note the time you apply the iodine.
4. Iodine-deficiency is indicated when the stain is gone in under 24 hours. This may be linked to hypothyroidism. If the stain lasts 24 hours or more, iodine status is normal. This supports normal thyroid function.

:Iodine-Skin-Patch-Supplementation:

This iodine patch test is a self-monitoring treatment. You can repeat the test procedure as often as necessary as a means of supplementing systemic iodine via skin absorption. Change locations every few days, as a burn-like sensation may develop with repeated application in the same location in sensitive individuals.

:Iodine-Oral-Supplementation:

Up to 1000 mcg/day of organic Iodine is recommended for oral supplementation when deficient. Pacific Kelp tested for heavy metals is recommended because kelp also contains additional factors that support healthy thyroid function.

:Iodine-Sterilization & Immunity:

A few drops of Lugol’s Solution sterilizes wounds or water. Iodine is utilized by the thyroid gland, and is also present in all tissues. Iodine is antiseptic and helps fight infection. People with iodine deficiency are more susceptible to infection.
