Human life cannot survive more than a few minutes without oxygen. Oxygen is necessary for efficient cellular energy metabolism, oxidative phosphorylation which forms the high energy phosphate bonds of Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (ATP) as the common energy storage for all cellular activity. High levels of oxygen are incompatible with fungal, viral and many pathological (anaerobic = lacking oxygen) bacterial activities. Dr. Otto Warburg won two Nobel prizes for his research demonstrating that the cellular respiration of cancer cells is also anaerobic fermentation, similar to fungal metabolism. He further demonstrated that increasing oxygen availability caused reversion of cancer cells back to normal cells. Since this work was done in the 1920’s it is remarkable that so little work has been done in the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) multi-billion dollar “War on Cancer” on oxygen therapies which are widely used in Europe. A recent response from NCI regarding a proposal to begin human clinical trials of Ukraine, a non-toxic herbally derived drug used in Europe to treat cancer, was that NCI has no mechanism for studying non-toxic cancer therapies. Since there is no powerful lobby for such research, there are no government funds, and since there is relatively little profit potential compared to patent drug chemotherapies, radiation and surgery, the medical/pharmaceutical industry does not fund such research.

Two of our major killers today, cancer and heart attacks, have only been observed since the industrial revolution. Could there be a link between the widespread burning of fossil fuels, which depletes atmospheric oxygen, and the modern diseases we face today? In the polar ice caps, bubbles of air are found trapped in layers of ice. Since seasonal weather changes produce identifiable layers in the ice cap, the age of the air bubbles can be estimated, similar to counting the rings of a tree. While the atmosphere today contains 19.5% oxygen, bubbles dating back 300 years, before the present era of fossil fuels, measure 38%. When you consider that in urban areas and tightly sealed buildings the level can go as low as 5 to 10% today, it becomes apparent that oxygen deficiency could indeed play a significant role in our uniquely modern health problems.

Perhaps this is why lung function and our ability to oxygenate our tissues is the single best predictor of longevity today. The standard medical textbook, The Pathologic Basis of Disease, used in most medical schools states that “hypoxia is probably the most common cause of cell injury and may also be the ultimate mechanism of damage initiated by a variety of physical, biological and chemical agents” (p. 24). Oxygen is the final acceptor of electron pairs at the end of the electron transport chain. When it is deficient, this cascade becomes deranged and inefficient, with increased leakage of dangerous singlet oxygen free radicals which damage the delicate mitochondrial membrane and its enzymes.

The most important way to enhance oxygenation of the whole body is either to increase atmospheric oxygen or to energize the existing oxygen in the air to make it more effective in the body. “Super Oxygen” composed of Oxozone (O4) and even larger forms of molecular oxygen are produced by Starfire’s unique patented air quality instruments. Water can also supply oxygen to our cells. In fact, the right kind of water can deliver oxygen directly to the specific tissues that need it. This is the alkaline reduced water, or “electron water” produced by electrolysis in our various microwater units. When this water dissolves stored acid deposits in toxic tissues, it delivers oxygen at the same time.

Remedies like Ginkgo biloba, Vinpocetin, Padma, and GTF Chromium help supply more oxygen both from the air and the water to needy tissues by improving circulation, since the blood is the common carrier of oxygen to our cells.
